City of Hendersonville launches brush and limb collection service for residents

Hendersonville, Tennessee – The City of Hendersonville has launched a brush and limb collection service aimed at assisting residents in maintaining their properties by disposing of natural debris efficiently. This service is available in selected areas, including the Walton Ferry Peninsula, Indian Lake Peninsula, and north of Gallatin Road, covering zones A7, B10, and C10.

Essential Service Details and Guidelines

This community service follows a rotational schedule, planning to visit each route every 6 to 8 weeks, although this can vary depending on weather conditions and the volume of material to be collected. Unfortunately, due to these variables, specific collection dates cannot be provided, but residents seeking information can contact the city at 615-822-1016.

Residents are required to adhere to certain guidelines to ensure the smooth operation of the service. Brush piles must be placed within four feet of the road edge and should be clear of trees, wires, mailboxes, and other structures to facilitate easy collection. Limbs should not exceed six inches in diameter, and each pile’s size is restricted to a maximum of ten feet by ten feet. Materials not accepted for collection include vines, root balls, or debris resulting from commercial tree-cutting services.

Moreover, the city explicitly states that it does not collect building materials, trash, or any non-organic waste. Commercial tree services must take responsibility for their debris removal. For leaf disposal, residents should use paper bags and place them at the road’s edge, avoiding loose leaf collection to prevent obstruction of streets and sidewalks. It’s important to note that homeowners may be held liable for any accidents caused by improperly placed debris.

The service is meticulously organized by zones, cleaning one zone completely before moving to the next. The frequency of pick-up for each area is determined by the volume of debris and prevailing weather conditions. This brush and limb collection service is exclusively for the residents of Hendersonville City, reflecting the city’s commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment for its community.
