Elderly Nashville man dies after collision, charges being considered against 21-year-old driver

Nashville, Tennessee – A fatal crash that occurred on Nolensville Road last week and claimed the life of an elderly Nasville resident has led to charges being considered against a 21-year-old man, whose identity has not been publicly revealed.

Metro police have reported the death of 84-year-old James P. Petty of Nashville, who succumbed to his injuries on Sunday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The accident occurred on Wednesday, February 7, when Petty, driving his Hyundai Elantra, turned left from Wallace Road onto Nolensville Road and was hit by a northbound Toyota Corolla.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla, a 21-year-old, stayed at the crash scene and was found not to be impaired, as noted by Metro police. The incident is still under investigation, and further details regarding the crash or charges have yet to be disclosed.
