Hendersonville, Tennessee – On December 26, 2023, the Hendersonville Police Department faced a critical situation involving a threat of violence at the Hendersonville Medical Center. This incident began with a concerning phone call received by the medical center’s security office, marking the onset of a rapid and coordinated law enforcement response.
The initial call to the Hendersonville Medical Center was characterized by unusual and erratic comments from the caller. As the conversation progressed, the caller’s frustration escalated, ultimately leading to the direct threat of committing violence against individuals at the medical facility. This alarming development triggered an immediate investigation by the Hendersonville Police.
Detectives quickly traced the origin of the call to Oklahoma, identifying that the phone used was still located in that state. Further investigation revealed that the same individual had previously contacted another hospital in Ohio before making the threatening call to the Hendersonville Medical Center. Through efficient investigative work, the Hendersonville Police Department identified the suspect as Kyle Odell, a 45-year-old resident of Lone Grove, Oklahoma.
In an exemplary display of interagency collaboration, the Lone Grove Police Department confirmed Odell’s location within Oklahoma, facilitating further investigative steps. On the same day, a Hendersonville detective successfully obtained warrants charging Kyle Odell with false reporting (threatening violence) and harassment.
By the early evening of December 26, Odell was apprehended by the Lone Grove PD and Carter County Sheriff’s Department. He is currently detained as a fugitive from justice and awaits extradition to Sumner County, TN.
Investigators have not found any connections between Odell and any entities in Tennessee. Despite the long-distance nature of these crimes, Sumner County, TN, stands firm in prosecuting such serious offenses. The Hendersonville Police Department urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
