Criminal defense lawyer faces charges for tampering with evidence

Hendersonville, Tennessee – A criminal defense attorney, Jocelyn Mims, faces serious charges after being indicted for allegedly deleting child pornography from her client’s phone. This indictment was announced by the Hendersonville Police Department following a grand jury’s decision on Wednesday.

Mims was initially retained in 2021 by a defendant who is currently facing several felony charges. During the course of the investigation, Hendersonville detectives uncovered that Mims had actively located and deleted child pornography from her client’s cell phone, an act that has led to her own legal troubles.

The charges against Mims are severe and include Tampering with Evidence, False Reports to Officer, and Intentionally Failing to Report Child Sex Abuse. As a consequence of these allegations, she is presently held in the Sumner County Jail, with her bond set at $80,000. Her court appearance is scheduled for November 17.

This case highlights the seriousness of interfering with criminal investigations, especially those involving child sex abuse. The Hendersonville Police Department is seeking further information and encourages anyone with knowledge about this case to contact them at (615) 822-1111 or reach out to the Hendersonville Crime Stoppers at (615) 594-4113.
