This year, each first responder in Sumner County will receive a Thanksgiving meal courtesy of a local church congregation, a gesture of gratitude for their continuous service.
While many enjoy Thanksgiving off with their families, first responders remain on duty, attending to emergencies throughout the holiday. To express appreciation for their unwavering commitment, Long Hollow Baptist Church members in Hendersonville assembled Thanksgiving dinners for the nine Sumner County Emergency Communications Center staff and all on-duty first responders across the county.
The church members felt inspired to contribute and utilize their blessings to create a positive impact. Their goal is to support those who consistently serve the community.
“It means the world to us that they think of us when we’re away from our families today,” said Katrina Faught, a Supervisor at Sumner County ECC, to News 2. “It really makes us feel special. They came in with a meal and prayed with us. It was really nice of them.”
Gregory Smith, a Long Hollow Baptist Church volunteer, highlighted the significance of the responders’ sacrifice. “They’re here on a day when most of us get to be with our families, and they’re sacrificing to help keep us safe,” he observed. “We’re very thankful to help first responders, and this opportunity was made available.”
In a season centered around gratitude, every act of kindness has a substantial impact throughout Sumner County.
